Relationships

Relationships — with your spouse, significant other, parents, boyfriend/girlfriend, siblings, children and friends — can often trigger emotional responses that feel disproportionate to the situation. Finding the link between current behavior and feelings is crucial to moving forward.

I can help you explore your relationship issues:

  • Couples
  • New relationships: newlyweds, new parents, blended families
  • Coworkers, colleagues and other business connections
  • Friends and other interpersonal relationships
  • Sexuality and sexual identity, including enhancement, dysfunction, satisfaction, comfort level
  • and other types of relationships

Therapy can be especially helpful if you are noticing unhealthy patterns in your relationship(s), such as:

  • You keep getting "dumped" or repeatedly find yourself ending relationships badly
  • You are accused of being too "needy" or "emotional," too "critical" or "distant"
  • The person in your life is never quite good enough
  • You have difficulty finding and maintaining relationships
  • Issues of intimacy — emotional or sexual — are an ongoing struggle
  • You are scared of commitment or are unable to commit at all

Relationships are key components in human life. If you have satisfying healthy relationships, chances are you're pretty happy. And if you don't, it's almost certain you are not.

I can help you sort out what isn't going well in your relationships and hone your skills at healthy, satisfying connections. Even those who are "good" at relationships run into challenges now and then. Therapy can help you enrich your life in the company of others.
